Clueless Soundtrack

Clueless was a great movie, and one of those great 90's movies that had a whole bunch of people who would go off to do many, many more things, plus one person in a big role who was at the time a big star and would soon fade away (Alicia Silverstone, please stop doing crappy TV pilots that don't get picked up and start doing mainstream movies that have nothing to do with Queen Latifah again). Other Clueless alums: Paul "Bemusement" Rudd, Donald "Brown Bear" Faison, Breckin "No One Knows Who I Am" Meyer, Jeremy "I'm Running Out Of Examples" Sisto, and, of course, Brittany Murphy. Other movies like this are Empire Records, Can't Hardly Wait, and Dazed and Confused (sort of, Ben Affleck is in it, so that's close).

It also had a great soundtrack. This is why I love the 90's. Clueless was a mainstream movie, and it had stuff like Radiohead and Lightning Seeds and Jill Sobule and Luscious Jackson on it...and VELOCITY GIRL. I LOVE Velocity Girl. If Clueless were made today, it would probably be a terrible movie, and I'm certain the soundtrack would be full of Taylor Swift. Like six Taylor Swift songs, and Kanye God damn West instead of Coolio. And All Time Low instead of the Lightning Seeds. And someone much less likable than Donald Faison instead of Donald Faison. Channing Tatum instead of Jeremy Sisto. Plus, no Wallace Shawn.

Clueless Soundtrack Tracklist:

1. The Muffs - Kids in America
2. Cracker - Shake Some Action
3. Counting Crows - The Ghost In You
4. Luscious Jackson - Here (Squirmel Mix)
5. World Party - All The Young Dudes
6. Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees (Acoustic Version)
7. Lightning Seeds - Change
8. Smoking Popes - Need You Around
9. Beastie Boys - Mullet Head
10. Mighty Mighty BossTones - Where'd You Go?
11. Coolio - Rollin' With My Homies
12. Supergrass - Alright
13. Velocity Girl - My Forgotten Favorite
14. Jill Sobule - Supermodel

And Nickelback instead of Radiohead.

Second Contribution

Hello my name is Chris and I am the second person to be regularly contributing to this blog. All I listen to is Indie Crap and Jeff absolutely hates it. I go to school at the University of Virginia and I'm broke so I have to download everything I want off of other blogs. You probably won't see any music here you haven't heard of, at least from me. But keeping pace with the rest of the crowd is nothing to sneeze at, is it? This song is a month old but I am sure as hell excited for this album.

Mix #1: Goofy Love Songs

So, I've decided that the first thing I'm going to post here is a mix. This way, there's something for everyone...provided you're into alt rock.

As you can tell from the title, this is a theme mix about love songs. Not all of them are goofy, but a lot of them are.

The songs are individual tracks. There's obviously a specific order they go in, so I'd recommend just adding them to iTunes as if they were a regular album, or maybe opening them in WMP or something. As long as whatever you're using can arrange by track number and doesn't just go by song title. Maybe next time I'll try to make a big ol' DJ mix of the whole thing and include that too.

I don't really want to talk about every individual song. I just tried to stick to (mostly) simple love songs...and I tried not to pick overly obvious ones, too. My general rule for mixes is that they should fit on one side of a cassette tape (though if I were to actually put a mix on a tape, I would use both sides and try to differentiate the two sides somehow...but I'd still want to keep the whole thing under 45 minutes). Another rule I have is to try and avoid using the same band twice, though there's technically three Rufio songs in this mix. That's because two of the songs are kind of a part one/part two kind of thing (the same goes for the two Ergs! songs).

I think the next two mixes are going to be anti-love songs and songs about sex.

Goofy Love Songs Mix Tracklist:

1. Rufio - Above Me
2. Sweet Baby - Baby Baby Baby Baby Baby Baby Baby I Love You
3. Lemonheads - Ever

Whaaaaaa

Ok. I have gotten tired of having a Blogspot account with nothing on it. I'm going to try to start using this thing for its original intended purpose: showing off my bloated music collection.
